The Senior Principal Package Management Spec is tasked with solving unique and complex problems that broadly impact the business. They must proactively identify and solve the most complex problems that impact the management and direction of the business. The Senior Principal Package Management Spec is considered a specialist in Package Management and offers a broad base of knowledge about the Supply Chain function. The Senior Principal Package Management Spec impacts the direction and resource allocation of programs and projects in their discipline and works within general functional policies and industry guidelines. The Senior Principal Package Management Spec role requires conceptual and innovative thinking to develop creative solutions to Package Management challenges.
Responsibilities
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
Functionally, report to Area Package Management Lead On project, reports to SCM Lead & dotted line to PM
Drive Engineering, Supply Chain, QHSES & Supplier to deliver the package on schedule & budget
Take full delivery ownership of critical, high-value POs or Subcontracts
Interface across various functions to identify and resolve bottlenecks and delays
Act as a point of contact for communications with vendors with a focus on delivery
Identify, document, quantify, escalate, and manage risk related to package delivery
Maintain accurate accounting of package cost, commitments, changes, and forecast
Arrange and attend periodic status meetings with vendors and clients as required
Liaise with project planning to provide reporting and updates on the delivery schedule
Develop and maintain contingency planning and lessons learned
Ensure timely handover of vendor documentation
Enforce Management of Change process and Project Change Notices (PCNs)
Identify talented individuals to join the package management discipline
Investigate technologies & processes that increase productivity/schedule confidence
Interact with the client as agreed to with the project management team
May be tasked with Process ownership for Package Management body of knowledge
May be responsible for managing multiple package managers
Assigned the largest, multi-discipline Project Packages at the discretion of the function & project
Act as the Formal point of contact for all communications with assigned Package Vendors after the PO award
Overall responsible for the delivery of all assigned engineered packages through the project life cycle
Established key progress measurements on the package to ensure focus is maintained on key engineering deliverables, issue of long lead procurement, tracking of sub-orders, manufacturing, and testing
Establish & maintain relationships with the Client & Vendors
Ensures that the Prime Contract is correctly administered, including the agreement to the variations
Manage Vendors/Suppliers to ensure that no delays or schedule/cost overruns occur, and where such impacts are identified, shall inform the project and assist in detailing actions to mitigate the event
Manage escalation process within the greater organization, including category management and functional management team
Manage all commercial Interfaces and ensure all parties are informed, issues recorded, communicated and closed
Ensure compliance with the Contract to deliver assigned packages
Monitors and manages the delivery risk profile & mitigation measures with assistance from relevant departments
Oversee the planning, performance, and resource allocation of Package team personnel throughout the project
Drive the resolution of issues or conflicts between departments or the client on designated packages
Liaise across project functions and relevant discipline engineers to ensure the timely issue and completion of all necessary deliverables that impact package delivery
Monitor costs (actual + forecast) against budget costs continually
Ensuring the delivery of the critical package activities adheres to the requirements of the Quality Management System
Manage formal correspondence and oversees the control of all related correspondence
Take all reasonable steps to ensure that company guidelines on safety and environmental issues are passed on to the supplier, understood, and adhered to
Provide leadership and commitment to HSES matters within the project
Ensure the handover of vendor information as required by the Engineering schedule
Ensure that all delivered products are fit for purpose per client requirements
Ensure that project execution processes are adhered to, from the preparation of procedures, readiness reviews, and task plans to the execution
Arranges and attends meetings with Client & Vendors
Overseeing contingency planning and lessons learned for the delivery scope
Liaise with project planner and fabrication team reporting and updating against baseline delivery dates and advising project management of any anomalies
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications and Education
Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Supply Chain Management (or a relevant discipline)
10-16 years of relevant experience
Well-versed in the prime and vendor contractual obligations
Substantial commercial, technical, and business acumen, written and & verbal communication skills
