Job Overview:

The Senior Principal E&M Specialist is tasked with solving unique and complex problems that broadly impact the business. They must proactively identify and solve the most complex problems that impact the management and direction of the business. The Senior Principal E&M Specialist is considered a specialist in the field of Equipment & Machinery, and they offer a broad base of knowledge about the Marine function. The Senior Principal E&M Specialist impacts the direction and resource allocation of programs and projects in their discipline and works within general functional policies and industry guidelines. The Senior Principal E&M Specialist role requires conceptual and innovative thinking to develop creative solutions to Equipment & Machinery challenges.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the subject matter expert in the marine function for equipment and machinery
  • Apply advanced knowledge of marine engineering principles and practices to oversee equipment and machinery used for marine operations
  • Analyze, interpret, and provide recommendations on marine regulations, standards, and guidelines to ensure compliance and the smooth progress of projects
  • Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to identify marine-specific challenges and develop effective strategies for resolution
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and develop mitigation plans to ensure the safe and efficient execution of marine operations
  • Lead marine teams and coordinate with cross-functional teams to strategize, plan, and execute marine-related aspects of projects, while adhering to project timelines and budgets
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing
  • Provide technical support to multidisciplinary teams throughout the project and asset lifecycle, addressing any E&M-related queries or challenges
  • Troubleshoot complex electrical and mechanical issues in marine systems, offering practical solutions and ensuring minimal downtime
  • Assist in the development and implementation of maintenance and repair strategies, ensuring optimal system performance and reliability
  • Assist in the development of technical and functional specification for new or modification of equipment and machinery
  • Oversee the selection, evaluation, and management of marine contractors and vendors, ensuring they meet project requirements and deliver quality services
  • Monitor equipment and machinery performance, identify potential issues, and take proactive measures to mitigate risks, optimize performance, and ensure project readiness within defined parameters
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, contractors, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships and achieve project objectives and operations

Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a related field
  • Minimum 7-10 years of experience in marine engineering with expertise in marine operations, EPCI projects, and offshore activities
  • In-depth knowledge of marine regulations, standards, and guidelines, with the ability to interpret and translate them into practical solutions
  • Strong expertise in marine electrical and mechanical systems, with the ability to guide projects while ensuring quality, safety, and budget adherence
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks
  • Highly organized, with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in relevant software and tools related to marine engineering and project management
