The Senior Officer - Credit Control plays a critical role in maintaining the financial health and risk management of the organization. This position requires an individual with strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail to handle high-value customer accounts, ensuring that credit policies are adhered to while optimizing cash flow. The Senior Officer is tasked with assessing creditworthiness, setting credit limits, monitoring outstanding balances, and working closely with other departments to resolve credit issues. A successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills to manage stakeholder relationships effectively, especially when communicating with clients to negotiate payment terms or rectify overdue accounts. The role demands strategic thinking and problem-solving capabilities to develop innovative solutions for complex credit scenarios. Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage customer accounts to ensure timely payments are made.
  • Develop and implement policies to reduce the company’s financial risks.
  • Analyze customer financials to assess credit risk and set appropriate credit limits.
  • Negotiate payment terms and develop repayment plans with delinquent clients.
  • Prepare reports on credit control status and highlight key risks to management.
  • Work with sales and accounts teams to manage credit issues collaboratively.
  • Conduct regular reviews of credit control policies and update them as necessary.
  • Manage the resolution of invoices and payment discrepancies efficiently.
  • Mentor junior credit control staff and oversee their professional development.
  • Utilize financial software to monitor the credit control data and trends.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to resolve credit issues promptly.
  • Ensure adherence to company and regulatory standards in all credit operations.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in credit control or risk management.
  • Strong analytical skills and an ability to interpret complex financial information.
  • Proficiency in using advanced financial software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills to manage client relationships.
  • Proven track record of reducing bad debt and mitigating credit risks.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines consistently.
