The Senior Marine Project Engineer is responsible for planning, managing, and supervising marine and coastal engineering projects on behalf of the Client. The role ensures projects are delivered in compliance with approved designs, technical standards, HSE regulations, budget, and schedule, while meeting all applicable regulatory and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management & Execution
Lead and manage marine engineering projects such as ports, marinas, seawalls, breakwaters, dredging, reclamation, coastal protection, and waterfront developments.
Review project scope, technical specifications, drawings, and contract documents to ensure alignment with Client requirements and standards.
Monitor construction progress, cost, quality, and schedule, ensuring timely project delivery.
Coordinate with consultants, contractors, stakeholders, and relevant authorities throughout the project lifecycle.
Technical & Engineering Oversight
Review and approve marine engineering designs, method statements, shop drawings, and material submittals in accordance with Client requirements.
Provide technical guidance on marine structures, geotechnical conditions, dredging operations, and coastal processes.
Resolve technical issues and site challenges related to marine works.
Ensure compliance with international standards (BS, ASTM, Eurocodes) and local regulations.
Contract & Stakeholder Management
Administer contracts in accordance with FIDIC or other applicable contractual frameworks.
Evaluate variations, claims, and extensions of time, providing technical recommendations to the Client.
Liaise with internal teams, utility authorities, environmental agencies, and consultants.
Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)
Ensure strict adherence to HSE policies, marine safety regulations, and environmental protection requirements.
Monitor implementation of environmental mitigation measures related to marine and coastal works.
Quality Assurance & Reporting
Implement quality control procedures and ensure compliance with approved QA/QC plans.
Prepare progress reports, technical evaluations, risk assessments, and briefings for the Client.
Conduct site inspections and audits to ensure workmanship and materials meet required standards.
Skills
Qualifications & Experience
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Marine Engineering, or Coastal Engineering
Master’s Degree is an advantage
Professional Certifications
Chartered Engineer (CEng), PMP, or equivalent certification preferred
Experience
Minimum 5–15 years of experience in marine and coastal engineering projects
Proven experience managing large-scale infrastructure or government-related marine projects
Experience in the UAE or GCC region is highly preferred
Skills & Competencies
Strong expertise in marine construction methods and coastal engineering
Excellent project management and leadership skills
Strong knowledge of regional regulatory and approval processes
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Proficient in engineering and project management software
