Job Description

The Senior Manager - Legal Counsel plays a crucial role in ensuring the organization's legal integrity while aligning with its long-term business goals. This position is responsible for overseeing the legal aspects of the business, ensuring that all activities comply with existing laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, the ability to manage complex legal issues, and a deep understanding of corporate law, industry regulations, and risk management. In addition, the Senior Manager - Legal Counsel will work closely with the management team to provide strategic legal advice, manage and mitigate risks, and protect the company's interests in various legal matters. As a leader within the legal department, excellent communication skills and the ability to guide and develop junior legal team members are essential.


Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic legal guidance and support to senior management and other departments.
  • Oversee all corporate legal processes such as patenting, trademarks, governance matters, and transactions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements, contracts, and other legal documents.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies and procedures.
  • Manage and resolve complex legal disputes and litigation issues effectively and efficiently.
  • Participate in the development of corporate policies, procedures, and programs as a primary legal advisor.
  • Work with external legal counsel on various legal affairs and manage associated costs.
  • Lead and mentor junior legal team members fostering a collaborative environment.
  • Conduct research on legal issues and provide sound advice on potential risks.
  • Protect the organization’s interests by ensuring proper diligence and contract management.
  • Develop and implement strategies to minimize legal risks and safeguard business interests.
  • Stay updated with current legal developments and advise on their impact on the business.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from a recognized law school is required.
  • At least 8-10 years of experience in corporate law or legal counsel roles.
  • Strong knowledge of regulations, legal documentation, and business law practices.
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, and communication skills in a legal context.
  • Proven leadership capabilities with experience in managing a legal team.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple complex assignments concurrently.
  • High degree of professional ethics and integrity is necessary.
