Job Description

The Role

Checkout.com is looking for an accomplished Risk professional, experienced in payments and technology, to join the Enterprise Risk Management Department in Dubai. Reporting to the Global Head of Enterprise Risk Management, you’ll be responsible for the enterprise risk management function for Checkout.com in the Middle East, as well as supporting the global Checkout.com Group Enterprise Risk function. You will be expected to work collaboratively internally with stakeholders both local and global to ensure that the risk management framework adheres to the regulatory expectations of the CBUAE.

The Enterprise Risk Management department is responsible for setting the risk management strategy globally for Checkout.com. Team members work across functions, products, and regions to monitor front-line performance and ensure that the business is on safe footing. The department produces management information (MI) reports for relevant regional and global committees and entity boards.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience dealing with regulators and senior management in a payments-focused, banking or other regulated financial institution and act as the senior person responsible for Risk Management for Checkout.com MENA. They will be well-organised, adaptable to the changing demands of the role, and capable of independent and autonomous decision-making to drive Checkout.com’s ambitious expansion goals in a fast-paced environment.

How You’ll Make An Impact

As the primary point of contact for Risk Management for Checkout.com MENA. You will:

• Ensure the companys Enterprise risk management strategy is implemented and is in alignment with the expectations of the CBUAE and other regulators in the region.
• Coordinate and run the MENA Risk Committee and prepare the risk updates when requested for the board of Checkout.com MENA.
• Respond to regulator queries as they relate to the risk management in MENA.
• Work collaboratively across the organisation to support the identification, evaluation and quantification of risks.
• Be responsible for monitoring MENA’ risk profile through KRIs, incidents and other risk monitoring tools.
• Help develop and maintain cross-functional elements of our global risk management framework.
• Play a key role in strengthening risk awareness and culture at Checkout.com.
• Assist in maintaining and managing the Business Continuity Plan for Checkout.com MENA.
  
  

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience in a Risk function, preferably within a Payments or fintech organisation
• Experience with enterprise risk frameworks, operational risk management, policies and procedures at financial institutions.
• Strong stakeholder management skills to work internally with 1LOD Managers and externally with CBUAE/other regional regulators.
• Knowledge of Middle East regulations, especially for electronic money institutions, and an ability implement them within a FinTech environment.
• Risk focused and capable of using data analytics to prioritise risks and use effective judgement to decide what measures are required to mitigate, and which risks to escalate.
• Team player who is reliable when working independently, with sound judgement for when to escalate issues.
• Familiar with business continuity frameworks.
• Tech savvy individual with an interest in improving risk management processes and data reporting.
• Exceptional communication skills in English.
