This is an exciting opportunity to work within IHG’s Development team as a Senior Manager, Development MEA to support IHG’s ambitious growth plan across the Middle East region.
Your day to day
Develop and execute IHG’s development plans according to the strategic direction of the company, supporting Developers. Leverage strong industry knowledge and superior sales skills to sign deals.
In consultation with Senior Director Development, canvas opportunities for strategic projects (eg, portfolio deals, strategic brand roll-out, co-branding opportunities, conversions).
Track and monitor opportunities across the region with special focus on conversion, strategic pitches, portfolios and liaise with local market teams to keep up to speed with market trends.
Build and maintain a network of investors and owners and general capital partners as well as consultants and other agents in the hotel development eco system.
Provide comprehensive research data regarding viability of markets and preferred site locations for development by brands; manage the structuring, negotiating and closing of deals throughout the development process.
Prepare responses to rfp’s in cooperation with all internal functions and in market development team
Deal structuring and negotiation: in collaboration with Investment Analysis, Senior Director Development, negotiate and agree deal terms with clients for single asset deals or multiple asset structures
Coordinate all internal resources (design and engineering, legal, finance, operations, etc)
Work with in-market teams to manage deal through internal approval processes to close
What we need from you
Critical Expertise & Experience:
Previous demonstrated experience with multiple deal types (franchise, managed etc.)
Experience in ME markets including UAE, GCC (excl. KSA), Levant, Iraq, Pakistan etc.
Shows understanding of the economics of a hotel project, return on investment calculations and what drives clients decisions
Good interpersonal skills and contacts for influencing multiple stakeholders such as clients and internal teams
Proven project management skills
Financial modelling experience would be a plus
Entrepreneurial spirit with a tendency for thinking innovatively – able to find deals and pitch ideas internally
Excellent presentation skills in both presentation form (powerpoint) pitching and one to one
Ability to work with and across diverse cultural teams
Arabic speaking preferred
Educational Attainment:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Real Estate, Hospitality or general Business
Additional MBA or Business diploma preferred
