Job Purpose:
Provide strategic execution to the IBG Group Head (GH), Chief of Staff and senior leadership, ensuring the effective execution of international business priorities and organizational objectives. This role is primarily responsible for supporting the strategic pivoting of the Chief of Staff Office towards a product centric organizational vision. In particular, the role is directly responsible for the business management and execution of a wide spectrum of business domains including (not limited to) Global Transaction Banking, Treasury and Global Markets, Global Corporate Banking (Collectively referred to as Business Lines) as well as spearheading key strategic initiatives that form an integral part of the IBG long term strategy. The role involves:
• Setting organizational wide strategic business management objectives relevant to the IBG, influencing both internal and external stakeholders, coordinating execution activity cross-functional, managing key initiatives, and facilitating communication between the Chief of Staff, country management, executive teams, and various functions.
• Executing on business delivery of insightful and value add MIS, decks, strategy papers, analysis, studies etc… that supports the GH in managing the IBG business
• Ensure product offering and digitization initiatives are leveraged to enhance competitiveness.
• Carry out all BAU activities adapting to the dynamic nature of the objectives across countries and business groups
• Lead the firm’s efforts to enhance the wholesale bank brand equity in the international markets Mashreq operates in
• Becoming a cultural carrier across the organization. Support marketing activities and franchise and brand building initiatives The appointed Senior Manager is expected to manage a group of business managers, demonstrating leadership aptitudes and delivering against a challenging business agenda while coaching, training and promoting local talent.
Key Results Areas:
• Manage relationships with senior leadership, country management teams, international regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with governance objectives
• Design, initiate and execute against core business management vision as it relates to the key Business Lines
• Instill practices to measure performance, generate ideas, promote cross sell and contribute to the bottom lines across Business lines
• Delivery on oversight activities associated with Relationship Managers productivity abd portfolio optimization across Business Lines
• Ensure effective budget planning and financial oversight for the business in collaboration with finance teams
• Work with finance partners to revamp and optimize business financial reporting • Generate in-depth analysis and develop insightful recommendations as required, to support effective assessment of business and strategy risks across Business Lines
• Oversee the delivery and adoption of the Client Experience global agenda, ensuring compliance with varying regional standards and specific branch requirements
• Deliver on the IBG expansion strategy through effective coordination with key internal and external stakeholders, and executing well-defined business plans and project roadmaps
• Drive, monitor, and deliver financial efficiency initiatives across key activities to materially impact the bottom line, including cost savings and budget adherence
• Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of cross-functional projects, in coordination with other functional teams, with a focus on aligning with international governance priorities and continually enhancing the IBG governance framework
• Develop and execute thought leadership and client centric initiatives that feeds directly into a strategic and cohesive plan designed to enhance the firm’s international wholesale bank brand equity
• Effective execution of team structuring, performance management, and professional development of direct reports, promoting a culture of collaboration, transparency and success
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
• Banking and Financial Services: Strong understanding of global banking operations, financial products, compliance, risk management, and regulatory frameworks across multiple jurisdictions
• International Markets: Knowledge of the intricacies of international markets, foreign exchange, capital markets, and geopolitical factors affecting banking
• Corporate Strategy: Experience in crafting and executing strategic plans, setting long-term goals, and ensuring alignment with the bank’s mission and objectives
• Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with global regulations such as Basel III, anti-money laundering laws, and other country-specific regulations
• Operational Excellence: Knowledge of business process optimization, cost management, and service delivery in a complex organizational setting Required Skills
• Business Management and Execution: Ability to develop broad and deep business knowledge and lead the strategy formulation and execution activities in support of business growth across multiple Business Lines
• Leadership and People Management: Ability to manage and influence teams, without authority, and foster collaboration across departments and regions
• Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, with an ability to convey complex issues clearly to stakeholders at all levels
• Analytical Skills: Proficiency in analyzing data, identifying trends, and making data-driven decisions
• Project Management: Ability to oversee multiple initiatives and ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget
• Problem Solving and Critical Thinking: Adept at identifying challenges, assessing potential solutions, and implementing effective strategies in a fast-paced environment
• Cultural Sensitivity and Adaptability: Working across cultures requires diplomacy, cultural awareness, and the flexibility to adapt management styles to different environments
Experience
• 15 Years of Banking Experience, with at least 5 years working at senior executive level and at least 5 years with exposure in International banking
• Banking or Financial Services Leadership: Experience in a management role within a financial institution, ideally in an international or multi-regional capacity
• Strategy formulation and execution
• Stakeholder Management: Proven ability to engage with high-level internal and external stakeholders, including leadership, consultants, and regulatory authorities
Cross-Functional Experience: Experience in closely working with different bank functions and ensuring cohesive alignment with the bank’s overall strategy
• Change Management: Expertise in driving/supporting transformation initiatives such as digital innovation, process enhancements and regulatory shifts
• International Exposure: A background of working in or managing teams across multiple countries or regions, understanding diverse markets and regulations Soft Skills
• The ability to understand and manage emotions, build strong relationships, and navigate complex interpersonal dynamics
• Adaptability and resilience in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and in the face of challenges • Discretion and integrity in handling sensitive information
