Job Description

The Senior Legal Counsel plays a pivotal role in providing expert legal guidance and representation to our organization. This position requires an individual with extensive knowledge in law, exceptional analytical skills, and a strategic mindset. As a Senior Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for managing and advising on legal risks, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, and supporting various business teams with legal insights. You will need to demonstrate strong leadership capabilities to mentor junior legal staff and collaborate with cross-functional teams. An effective communicator both written and oral, you will have the ability to convey complex legal concepts in a clear and concise manner. This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity and reputation of our organization, guiding legal strategy, and ensuring the best legal outcomes.


Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic legal advice to senior management on key legal issues.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of complex contracts and agreements.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  • Manage and resolve legal disputes, coordinating with external legal counsel as needed.
  • Advise on corporate governance and ensure all documentation is accurate and up to date.
  • Develop and implement legal strategies to minimize risks and protect the company.
  • Mentor and train junior legal staff, fostering their professional development.
  • Support mergers and acquisitions by conducting thorough legal due diligence.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and address legal issues proactively.
  • Represent the organization in litigation and other formal procedures as needed.
  • Analyze and interpret complex laws and regulations relevant to the business.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior management and board meetings.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent legal degree from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 8-10 years of experience in a legal counsel position.
  • Strong negotiation skills and ability to influence at a senior level.
  • Excellent understanding of corporate law and procedures.
  • Proven experience in managing complex legal projects and litigation.
  • Demonstrable ability to communicate legal concepts clearly and concisely.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment is preferred.
