Job Description

Role Overview

We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer with hands-on experience across a diverse range of electrical engineering domains, including power distribution, and building electrical services. The ideal candidate brings a sound understanding of both medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) systems and can contribute to complex projects from feasibility through to detailed design.

The candidate will be responsible for developing electrical designs, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring that solutions are technically sound, compliant, and aligned with client expectations.

This is a great opportunity for an engineer who enjoys variety, and who is comfortable navigating the interface between infrastructure and building systems within sectors such as energy, utilities, real estate, and industrial facilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver electrical designs for projects involving:
    • Medium and low voltage networks (11kV, 33kV, LV distribution boards, switchgear, MCCs).
    • Building services systems (power, lighting, fire alarm, earthing, controls).
  • Support concept design, detailed design, tender documentation, and construction support activities.
  • Electrical drawings – Single line diagrams, protection diagrams, lighting layouts, cable tray layouts, earthing layouts, schematics, load schedules, cable sizing, and system calculations.
  • Carry out design reviews, risk assessments, and ensure adherence to relevant international and local standards (e.g. BS, IEC, DEWA, ADDC, OES, SEC).
  • Liaise with utilities for grid connection requirements and coordinate with mechanical, civil, and architectural teams.
  • Participate in site surveys, commissioning reviews, shop drawings, construction support and technical troubleshooting as needed.
  • Prepare technical reports, specifications, and contribute to proposals or project bids.
  • Mentor junior engineers and support knowledge sharing within the team.
Preferred Technical Experience

  • Grid interface, authority approvals and utility application processes.
  • Renewables integration, hybrid systems, BESS, or microgrids.
  • Familiarity with power design software (ETAP, Dialux/Relux, Ecodial).
  • Working knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, and BIM coordination.

Qualifications And Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or equivalent.
  • 8 years or more of post-bachelor experience across electrical design and/or engineering consultancy.
  • Solid grounding in both infrastructure and building services design environments.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory standards and authority approval processes in the GCC (especially UAE).
  • Effective communicator with good report writing and stakeholder engagement skills.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Technically strong and delivery-focused, with a proactive attitude to problem solving.
  • Able to balance technical detail with project-level priorities.
  • Adaptable to working across sectors, including utilities, buildings, and infrastructure.
  • Collaborative and approachable, with an interest in mentoring others and developing best practice.

Approved engineer from GCC regulatory bodies (e.g., DEWA, SEWA, KAHRAMAA) is a plus
