Senior Data Architect

Role Purpose

The role is responsible for developing and governing the enterprise data architecture. The role will lead the creation of current state and future state data architecture models, enabling scalable, secure, and value-driven use of data across the organisation. The role will ensure that data platforms, pipelines, and analytics capabilities are aligned to IT strategy, business priorities, and emerging data and AI opportunities. The role plays a key part in shaping a modern, future ready data ecosystem that supports advanced analytics, AI adoption, and enterprise decision making. 

• Develop and maintain as-is and to-be data architecture models, working closely with Enterprise Architecture team, across platforms, domains, and business capabilities.  

• Define data modelling standards and integration approaches. 

• Align data architecture with enterprise architecture, security architecture and broader data & technology strategy. 

• Establish architectural blueprints covering ingestion, storage, processing, analytics, governance and lifecycle management. 

• Design scalable and secure data platform architectures supporting analytics, AI, and operational use cases. 

• Provide architectural oversight to delivery teams for IT projects, data engineering and analytics initiatives, ensuring solutions are modular, interoperable, and aligned with our IT strategy. 

• Support the selection and adoption of modern data technologies and tooling.  

• Ensure compliance with regulatory, privacy, and information security requirements. 

• Contribute to capability maturity and the evolution of a data-driven culture. 

• Promote consistent data definitions and enterprise-wide data standards.  

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Data Science, Engineering or related discipline 

• Proven experience in data architecture roles. 

• Strong knowledge of modern cloud-based data platforms and data engineering patterns.  

• Experience developing data architecture roadmaps and data modelling (conceptual, logical, and physical) 

• Strong understanding of data governance, security and privacy principles. 

• Experience supporting analytics, BI, and AI initiatives. 

• Strategic thinker with strong architectural mindset. 

• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills. 

• Ability to balance strategic vision with pragmatic delivery. 

• Collaborative and comfortable working in cross-functional teams.
