About the Role:

The Senior Compliance Officer will support the compliance team in ensuring the organisation’s full compliance with applicable UAE Central Bank (CBUAE) regulations and standards, with a particular focus on B2B and B2C lending activities. The role is hands-on and delivery-oriented, requiring strong regulatory understanding, sound judgement, and the ability to operate independently on complex compliance matters.

The position is primarily focused on wider regulatory compliance, including prudential, conduct, governance, outsourcing, and reporting requirements. The role also supports risk assessments, new product approvals, vendor onboarding, system and control framework development, regulatory reporting, and horizon scanning.

A working knowledge of AML/CFT/CPF frameworks is required, although this is not the primary focus of the role.

Key Responsibilities


Regulatory Compliance:

  • Support the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the regulatory compliance framework in line with CBUAE requirements applicable to B2B and B2C lending.
  • Monitor compliance with relevant CBUAE regulations and standards, including but not limited to:
    • Finance Companies Regulation
    • Consumer Protection Regulation and Consumer Protection Standards
    • SME Market Conduct Standards
    • Credit Risk Management Regulation and Standards
    • Fitness and Propriety Regulation and Standards
    • Outsourcing Regulation
    • Other applicable CBUAE circulars, notices, and supervisory guidance
  • Assist in interpreting regulatory requirements and translating them into practical policies, procedures, systems, and controls.
  • Support responses to regulatory queries, supervisory reviews, and inspections.


Risk Assessments & Control Framework:

  • Support the conduct of compliance and regulatory risk assessments, including periodic and thematic assessments.
  • Assist in identifying compliance risks, control gaps, and areas for improvement, and support the tracking of remediation actions.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and enhancement of the organisation’s systems and control framework, ensuring alignment with regulatory expectations and business risk appetite.


Compliance Monitoring & Reviews:

  • Perform compliance monitoring reviews across products, processes, and business units.
  • Document findings clearly, assess regulatory impact, and support the development and follow-up of corrective action plans.
  • Maintain compliance monitoring logs, evidence repositories, and audit-ready documentation.


Regulatory Reporting:

  • Support the preparation, coordination, and submission of regulatory reports to the CBUAE and other relevant authorities, in line with prescribed timelines and requirements.
  • Assist in ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of regulatory data submitted.
  • Maintain regulatory reporting calendars, trackers, and supporting documentation.
  • Support responses to follow-up queries arising from regulatory submissions.


New Product Approvals & Business Change:

  • Provide compliance input into new product approvals, product enhancements, and material business changes.
  • Review product structures, customer journeys, disclosures, and contractual documentation for regulatory and consumer protection compliance.
  • Support governance and approval committees by preparing compliance assessments and opinions.


Vendor Onboarding & Outsourcing:

  • Support compliance due diligence for vendor onboarding, including outsourced and third-party service providers.
  • Review outsourcing arrangements for compliance with the CBUAE Outsourcing Regulation, including contractual requirements and oversight controls.
  • Assist in maintaining outsourcing registers and supporting periodic reviews of outsourced activities.


Policies, Procedures & Governance:

  • Support the drafting, review, and periodic update of compliance policies, procedures, and manuals.
  • Assist in embedding regulatory requirements into operational processes and internal controls.
  • Support compliance reporting to senior management and Board or committee forums.


Horizon Scanning & Regulatory Change:

  • Conduct regulatory horizon scanning to identify upcoming or emerging regulatory developments.
  • Support regulatory impact assessments and implementation planning for new or amended regulations.
  • Maintain regulatory trackers and contribute to internal communications on regulatory change.


Training & Awareness:

  • Support the development and delivery of regulatory compliance training and awareness initiatives.

  • Promote a strong culture of regulatory compliance, consumer protection, and ethical conduct across the organisation.



Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Bachelor’s degree in Law, Finance, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 3–6 years’ experience in a compliance or regulatory role within financial services, preferably within a CBUAE-regulated lending or financial services environment.
  • Strong practical knowledge of CBUAE regulations applicable to B2B and B2C lending activities.
  • Professional compliance qualification (e.g. ICA, ACAMS, or equivalent) is preferred.
