Job Description
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Civil Engineer with a strong background in Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) projects to support the supervision, construction, and delivery of major water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Plan, manage, and supervise all civil construction activities for the STP project.
- Review IFC drawings, structural drawings, specifications, BOQ, method statements, and project schedules.
- Ensure civil works are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Supervise construction of STP structures, including: Inlet and outlet structures Screening and grit removal structures Equalization tanks Aeration tanks Secondary clarifiers Sludge treatment facilities Filter and disinfection units Pump rooms Equipment foundations Control rooms and associated buildings Roads, drainage, paving, and utility infrastructure
- Supervise excavation, shoring, dewatering, backfilling, compaction, and underground works.
- Supervise reinforcement, formwork, concrete pouring, curing, and structural works.
- Ensure proper installation of waterproofing systems for tanks and underground structures.
- Coordinate with surveyors for setting-out, levels, coordinates, and dimensional accuracy.
- Review shop drawings and coordinate technical requirements with consultants and subcontractors.
- Raise and follow up RFIs for technical and construction-related issues.
- Coordinate civil works with mechanical, electrical, MEP, and process equipment installations.
- Ensure proper provision of sleeves, openings, embeds, anchor bolts, equipment foundations, and pipe penetrations.
- Monitor construction progress against the approved project schedule.
- Prepare and maintain daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports.
- Monitor manpower, materials, equipment, and productivity at site.
- Identify construction delays and coordinate recovery and mitigation measures.
- Coordinate with the Client, Consultant, Main Contractor, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
- Attend site coordination, technical, progress, and construction meetings.
- Ensure all materials are approved prior to incorporation into the works.
- Coordinate with QA/QC teams for inspections and testing of civil works.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, approved ITPs, method statements, and applicable standards.
- Monitor concrete quality, slump tests, cube tests, reinforcement inspections, and waterproofing inspections.
- Review and close NCRs, site observations, inspection comments, and punch-list items.
- Ensure all civil works comply with project HSE requirements.
- Monitor safe execution of excavation, lifting, working at height, confined-space, and concrete activities.
- Coordinate with the HSE team to implement risk assessments and method statements.
- Verify quantities of completed civil works for interim payment applications.
- Review subcontractor measurements and completed-work quantities.
- Assist the commercial team with variations, claims, and change orders.
- Monitor material usage and minimize construction wastage.
- Coordinate testing of tanks, chambers, pipelines, and other civil structures.
- Support mechanical and process teams during equipment installation and commissioning.
- Coordinate water-tightness testing and rectification of leakage or structural defects.
- Supervise snagging, de-snagging, and final completion of civil works.
- Review and coordinate preparation of as-built drawings and handover documentation.
- Ensure completion of operation and maintenance documentation related to civil works.
- Maintain proper records of drawings, inspections, approvals, test reports, and site instructions.
- Provide technical guidance and leadership to Site Engineers, Supervisors, Foremen, and subcontractors.
- Identify potential construction risks and implement appropriate corrective actions.
- Resolve site technical problems and provide practical engineering solutions.
- Ensure timely completion of civil works in line with project milestones.
- Maintain effective communication between engineering, construction, QA/QC, HSE, planning, and commercial teams.
- Ensure the completed STP civil infrastructure meets required quality, safety, functionality, and handover standards.
Qualifications
✅ Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering
✅
10+ years of experience in civil engineering and construction supervision
✅ Minimum
5 years of experience on STP (Sewage Treatment Plant) and wastewater infrastructure projects
✅ Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete structures, tanks, pumping stations, pipelines, and utility networks
✅ Experience with contractor management, site supervision, and project coordination
✅ Familiarity with local authority requirements and international design/construction standards
✅ Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder management skills
Additional Information
✅ UAE/GCC experience preferred
