Job Description

The Senior Accounts Assistant plays a crucial role in the financial operations of the organization by supporting the accounts department. This position is responsible for handling various financial tasks, including preparing financial statements, reconciling accounts, and assisting in the preparation of budgets. The Senior Accounts Assistant must possess a thorough knowledge of accounting principles, be detail-oriented, and have excellent analytical skills. As a key member of the finance team, this role requires collaboration with other departments to ensure accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have experience in financial processing and an ability to work independently while demonstrating leadership within their scope of work.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare regular financial statements and reports to track the organization's performance.
  • Assist in the preparation and coordination of budget and financial forecasts.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts to maintain accuracy and comply with accounting standards.
  • Review and process invoices and expense reports for timely payments and accuracy.
  • Maintain and update fixed asset records and depreciation schedules regularly.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant financial and accounting regulations and standards.
  • Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
  • Collaborate with other departments to explain accounting information and provide support.
  • Implement improvements to accounting processes to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy.
  • Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable to ensure timely collections and payments.
  • Train and mentor junior accounting staff to build team capabilities and productivity.
  • Analyze financial data and trends, providing insights to support strategic decision-making.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Minimum of three years of experience in an accounting or finance role.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills for accurate financial analysis.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for managing complex financial data.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills to develop and guide junior staff.
