Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Accountant to join our growing construction company. This role is pivotal for ensuring that our financial operations run smoothly and efficiently, providing financial insights crucial to our business success. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in accounting, specifically in the construction industry, and possess a strong understanding of financial regulations, cost accounting, and project management. You will be responsible for leading the accounting team, overseeing financial transactions, and ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting. Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the general accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and taxes.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness for internal and external reporting.
  • Coordinate and oversee the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes for the construction accounting department.
  • Manage the implementation of new accounting standards and ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies.
  • Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes with department heads and senior management.
  • Analyze financial data and create reports to identify areas of operational improvement and cost savings.
  • Supervise, train, and support accounting staff, ensuring a high level of professional development and performance.
  • Work closely with project managers to analyze project costs, estimate future revenues, and track budget performance.
  • Assist in the preparation of tax filings, including sales tax, property tax, and corporate income tax.
  • Liaise with external auditors and tax consultants to facilitate the annual audit and tax compliance processes.
  • Develop and monitor business performance metrics, ensuring effective financial management practices are in place.
  • Maintain system of accounts and keep records on all company transactions and assets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation highly preferred or actively pursuing CPA.
  • Strong understanding of construction accounting principles and a proficiency in accounting software.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail to drive financial accuracy.
  • Proven ability to manage and supervise a team of accounting professionals effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work across all levels of an organization.
  • Knowledge of budget preparation and financial analysis methodologies.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
