Senior Accountant - Construction (225-701)

The Senior Accountant in the construction industry plays a critical role in managing and executing the company's financial operations. This position requires an individual with an extensive background in accounting, specifically within the construction sector, to handle complex job cost accounting, project accounting, financial reporting, and compliance issues. The Senior Accountant will work closely with project managers, executives, and the finance team to ensure accuracy in financial documentation and proper adherence to financial regulations. This role is pivotal in managing the financial health of the company, developing budgets, analyzing financial performance, and implementing financial controls. The ideal candidate will have excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee daily operations of the accounting department including AP/AR processes.
• Develop and implement project accounting procedures for cost tracking and profitability analysis.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and management reports.
• Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
• Analyze financial information and provide strategic recommendations for decision-making.
• Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports.
• Work closely with project managers to ensure accurate costing and financial reporting on projects.
• Perform financial forecasting, budgeting, and analysis to support business planning activities.
• Implement and maintain internal control processes to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy.
• Coordinate with internal and external auditors during financial and operational audits.
• Prepare, review, and monitor project budgets and ensure operations align with financial goals.
• Stay updated on industry trends and accounting standards to ensure best practices.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the construction industry.
• Proficiency in accounting software like QuickBooks, Sage, or industry-specific software.
• Strong understanding of job cost accounting and financial project management.
• Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to analyze complex financial data.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration.
• Certification such as CPA or CMA is preferred but not mandatory.
