Job Description

The position of a Security Guard plays a vital role in maintaining the safety and security of an organization. Security Guards are primarily responsible for safeguarding property, employees, and assets against potential security threats, including theft, vandalism, and unauthorized access. They monitor and control access points, perform regular patrols, and ensure adherence to the organization’s security protocols. In addition, Security Guards are trained to respond to emergency situations, manage incidents, and report any suspicious activities or security breaches to authorities. This role requires vigilance, attention to detail, and a commitment to ensuring a secure environment. A good Security Guard remains calm under pressure and possesses excellent communication skills to deal effectively with colleagues and the public.


Responsibilities

  • Monitor and control access points to ensure authorized entry only.
  • Conduct regular security patrols and inspections across the premises.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to alarms and emergency situations.
  • Report any suspicious activities or security breaches to the authorities.
  • Provide directions and assistance to visitors and employees on-site.
  • Write comprehensive reports documenting security incidents and responses.
  • Liaise with local law enforcement and emergency services when necessary.
  • Monitor surveillance equipment and review footage for potential threats.
  • Enforce company policies and regulations to maintain order and safety.
  • Assist in the identification and removal of unauthorized individuals.
  • Administer first aid and basic life support in emergencies until help arrives.
  • Stay informed on current security threats and prepare to respond appropriately.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required for this role.
  • Previous experience in security or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail are essential.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary.
  • Ability to remain calm and respond to emergencies effectively is crucial.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, is required.
  • Possession of a valid security guard license or certification is a must.
