Security Engineer - Fortinet

Help AG is looking for a talented and experienced Security Engineer – Fortinet Firewall, FortiSwitch & FortiAP who will be responsible for monitoring, managing, and maintaining Fortinet security solutions across internal and client environments. Expertise in FortiGate Firewalls, FortiSwitch, FortiAP, FortiAnalyzer, VPN technologies, and network security operations is highly recommended.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage Fortinet security infrastructure including FortiGate, FortiSwitch, and FortiAP in a 24×7 environment.
• Perform L1-level firewall operations:
• Rule creation/modification
• Policy validation
• Basic NAT and VPN configurations
• Monitor alerts and respond to security incidents and network anomalies.
• Perform initial troubleshooting for firewall, switching, and wireless issues.
• Escalate complex issues to L2/L3 teams with proper analysis and logs.
• Monitor and analyze logs using FortiAnalyzer.
• Fundamental level assistance in DDoS alert monitoring and basic mitigation support.
• Ensure adherence to SLA, SOPs, and security policies.
• Support change management activities (standard changes, documentation updates).
• Generate and maintain daily/weekly operational reports.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams (SOC, NOC, Network, Security).
  

Qualifications & Skills

• Minimum 3 - 7 years of hands-on experience with FortiGate (policy management, NAT, VPN, troubleshooting).
• Basic working knowledge of FortiSwitch and VLAN configurations.
• Understanding of wireless networking using FortiAP.
• Knowledge of networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, subnetting).
• Basic understanding of NGFW concepts (IPS, application control, web filtering).
• Familiarity with log analysis and monitoring tools (FortiAnalyzer preferred).
• Awareness of common network attacks (DDoS, brute force, port scanning).
