Job Description

The Sales Assistant position in the Sports Department is essential for creating a welcoming and engaging shopping environment for customers. This role involves directly interacting with sports enthusiasts and providing them with exceptional service by leveraging expert product knowledge and sales skills. A successful Sales Assistant should have a passion for sports, the ability to quickly build rapport with customers, and the competence to close sales effectively. Responsibilities

  • Greet customers warmly and offer assistance upon entering the store.

  • Assist customers by providing information and helping in product selection.
  • Organize and replenish merchandise to ensure a neat and attractive sales floor.
  • Process sales transactions efficiently and accurately at the point of sale.
  • Achieve sales targets by using effective sales techniques and upselling skills.
  • Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues with a professional demeanor.
  • Participate in inventory management and stock control activities regularly.
  • Stay updated on new product launches and sports industry trends.
  • Collaborate with the sales team to enhance customer service and sales efforts.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures for a compliant workspace.
  • Provide feedback to management regarding customer preferences and stock needs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education in sales is a plus.
  • Previous retail experience, preferably in a sports related role, is desirable.
  • Passion for sports and strong knowledge of various sports products.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for customer interaction.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, if necessary.
  • Proficient in basic computer operations and point-of-sale systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and an ability to work under pressure.
