As assigned by Line Manager responsible for all site Health, Safety and Environmental aspects of their assigned project. This includes management and coordination of personnel coming to site from a safety perspective including both Jones direct staff and subcontractors. Safety Engineer are required to be active on site dealing with various personnel from labour, supervisors, construction managers, project managers, clients etc.
Responsibilities
Direct line of report Safety Manager or Project Manager depending on project size and structure
Ensure knowledge and compliance with Jones company policies and procedure for Health and Safety.
Implement Site Safety Induction program for all personnel coming to site and must ensure all personnel attend.
Implement site specific HSE plan for site and inform everyone on site of site safety requirements.
Implement Fire & emergency plan on site and ensure the site and personnel on site are compliant.
Implement Jones Engineering safety training program on site and where safety engineer is a trained instructor, train personnel as required.
Assist with implementing LOTO procedures on site.
Conduct regular Toolbox talks with personnel on site. The frequency of each Toolbox talk will depend on the site requirements.
Issue PPE to personnel on site and control stock on site.
Identify any specialist safety equipment required on site.
Drafting of method statements and risk assessments as directed, in coordination with the Project HSE Lead.
Ensure adequate lift plans are in place for all crane operations on site.
Maintain Training records of personnel coming to site.
Maintain weekly inspection of all equipment on site i.e., Scaffolding, Mobile Scaffolding, MEWP, Safety Harness, Ladders, Lifting Equipment. Power tools.
Conduct regular site inspections on site.
Prepare and submit weekly HSE stats, Daily reports and monthly reports as required per site.
Co-ordinate with client or consultant safety personnel on site walks ad safety meetings as required.
Participating in project HSE meetings.
Actively advise management and supervision on site of safety requirements and provide advise safe means of works.
Investigate in conjunction with Project Manager and HSE Manager any accidents or incidents on site and assist with compiling reports.
Manage housekeeping team on site and ensure site and site compound housekeeping is maintained to high standard.
Experience And Qualifications
Minimum 5 years work experience on construction projects in a HSE role
Qualifications commensurate with position: NVQ, etc.
Minimum Nebosh qualification and any additional training an advantage.
Experience in Data Centre Projects an advantage.
Experience with MEP contractors an advantage.
Multilingual an advantage i.e. Hindi, English etc.
Competent in the use of PC applications (Microsoft Office suit or equivalent).
