Job Description

The Safety Officer is an integral role in ensuring the well-being and protection of all team members, visitors, and contractors within an organization. This position requires an individual to meticulously assess and implement safety measures that comply with legal and industry standards. By fostering a culture of safety, the Safety Officer ensures that operational processes are executed without posing threats to human life or the environment. This role also involves continuous education and training of staff to reinforce a safety-first mindset and regularly updates safety protocols in alignment with new regulations or emerging risks. If you are passionate about safety and have an eye for detail, possess excellent communication skills, and can remain calm under pressure, then this is an ideal position for you.


Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and review workplace safety policies and procedures regularly.
  • Conduct risk assessments and inspect workplaces to identify potential hazards.
  • Monitor compliance with safety laws, regulations, and organizational directives.
  • Prepare and deliver safety training sessions and toolbox talks for employees.
  • Investigate accidents and incidents to identify underlying causes and report findings.
  • Inspect and maintain all safety and emergency equipment routinely for operational readiness.
  • Coordinate emergency drills and exercises to enhance readiness and response capabilities.
  • Guide and mentor management on safety-related decision-making and practices.
  • Maintain accurate safety records and compile reports on safety activities and incidents.
  • Collaborate with external safety agencies and consultants as necessary.
  • Promote and uphold a strong safety culture across all levels of the organization.
  • Assure continuous compliance with local, state, and federal safety regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a safety officer role or similar position.
  • Certification in occupational health and safety management or equivalent is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and best practices, including OSHA standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct training and communicate safety regulations effectively.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail in safety inspection processes.
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive safety reports and maintain accurate records consistently.
