Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Safety Officer to join our team, designated by the internal reference code 23N25. The Safety Officer will play a central role in ensuring the safety and security of our work environment, driving compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) guidelines, and elevating our safety standards to exemplary levels. This position requires a proactive problem solver who is detail-oriented, with a knack for fostering a culture of safety among employees. As a Safety Officer, you will be expected to anticipate potential hazards, implement effective safety procedures, and continually monitor and report on compliance and safety performance. This role is essential for mitigating workplace risks and enhancing the wellbeing of our team members, thereby facilitating uninterrupted operations and elevating employee morale.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular site inspections to ensure adherence to safety policies and procedures.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive safety plans for reducing workplace hazards.
  • Provide safety training and coaching to employees to promote a safe work environment.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents promptly to determine causes and recommend corrective measures.
  • Collaborate with management to develop occupational safety strategies in line with legal requirements.
  • Maintain detailed records of safety inspections, audits, and training sessions.
  • Ensure compliance with the latest OHS laws, standards, and best practices in safety management.
  • Coordinate emergency response drills to prepare the team for potential emergency situations.
  • Review and update safety policies to ensure continuous improvement and industry compliance.
  • Develop risk assessments and regular reports to inform management of safety operations.
  • Advise on equipment safety and procurement to minimize risks associated with machinery use.
  • Proactively identify potential hazards and work with teams to mitigate safety risks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in safety management, environmental science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Safety Officer or in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of OHSAS, ISO standards, and current safety best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively educate and guide team members.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software tools.
  • Certification in occupational health and safety is strongly preferred.
