Job Description

The Safety Officer 13M26 position is a vital role within our organization, dedicated to ensuring the highest standards of health and safety across all of our operations. The individual in this role will be responsible for developing, maintaining, and enforcing safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all employees. The Safety Officer will work closely with different departments to identify potential hazards, conduct risk assessments, and implement effective control measures. This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in occupational safety and health administration, and demonstrate a proactive approach to fostering a culture of safety in the workplace.


Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards.
  • Develop and enforce comprehensive safety policies and procedures.
  • Facilitate safety training programs for employees at all organizational levels.
  • Investigate incidents and accidents to determine their root causes.
  • Prepare detailed reports on safety matters and suggest improvements.
  • Ensure the organization complies with legal and regulatory safety requirements.
  • Collaborate with management to foster a strong safety culture.
  • Monitor and analyze accident and injury data to identify trends.
  • Create emergency response plans and coordinate safety drills.
  • Recommend appropriate corrective actions to resolve unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for all safety-related activities.
  • Provide guidance and advice to staff on safety-related issues and concerns.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a safety officer role or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of applicable safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage employees.
  • Ability to identify unsafe practices and implement corrective measures effectively.
  • Familiarity with safety management systems and performance metrics.
  • Certification in safety management (e.g., OSHA, NEBOSH) is highly desirable.
