Job Description

As a Safety Officer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the workplace is safe and complies with all safety regulations. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain and implement safety protocols and guidelines, aiming to prevent accidents and injuries within the organization. The ideal candidate will possess a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to anticipating potential safety hazards. You will work collaboratively with various departments to foster a culture of safety, thereby minimizing risks and enhancing productivity. You should have a comprehensive understanding of health and safety legislation along with exceptional communication skills to effectively conduct safety training sessions and briefings for employees.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement robust safety policies and procedures for the organization.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
  • Conduct safety training sessions and seminars for all employees.
  • Monitor workplace for unsafe practices or situations and address them promptly.
  • Maintain records of safety inspections, incidents, and health and safety programs.
  • Lead investigations of accidents and incidents to identify root causes.
  • Collaborate with management to ensure safety standards are continuously met.
  • Prepare and present detailed reports on safety practices and incidents to management.
  • Stay updated on current industry safety trends and update procedures as needed.
  • Develop emergency procedures and conduct drills to ensure preparedness.
  • Advise management on necessary improvements for health and safety performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience of at least two years as a safety officer or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and legislation.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively conduct training and create reports.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical skills to assess risks and identify solutions.
  • Certification in occupational health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA) is an advantage.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams to promote a culture of safety.
