Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse for our Operating Theatre (OT) department, tasked with the crucial role of caring for patients undergoing surgery. The ideal candidate will possess robust clinical skills and the ability to operate effectively in high-stress environments. Within our dynamic and supportive team, you will play a key role in facilitating smooth and efficient operations in the OT by assisting surgeons, managing surgical equipment, and ensuring the highest standard of patient care and safety. This position demands a meticulous individual with strong communication skills to coordinate with all levels of the surgical team, along with the ability to make swift decisions in critical situations.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare the operating room for surgeries, ensuring all equipment is sterile and functional.
  • Assist surgeons during procedures by passing instruments and anticipating their needs.
  • Monitor patients’ vital signs and reaction during and post-surgery to detect any anomalies.
  • Administer medications and IV fluids as prescribed by the physician during and after surgery.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of patients' medical histories and surgical procedures.
  • Communicate with the surgical team to address any concerns or complications that may arise.
  • Provide post-operative care and guidelines to patients to aid in their recovery process.
  • Educate patients and their families about the surgical process and post-surgical care protocols.
  • Coordinate with surgical and anesthetic teams to ensure seamless patient care from start to finish.
  • Maintain a sterile environment in the operating room to prevent surgical site infections.
  • Adhere to hospital policies and regulatory authority guidelines concerning patient safety and care.
  • Participate in continuing education and training programs to enhance professional skills.

Requirements

  • Current and valid state license as a Registered Nurse with specialization in surgical care.
  • Minimum of two years experience as a registered nurse in an operating room setting.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited nursing program required.
  • Strong understanding of aseptic and sterile procedures and ability to maintain a sterile environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present information clearly to patients and team members.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure in high-stress situations.
  • CPR and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification are mandatory.
