Job Description

A Registered Midwife licensed by the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) plays a critical role in providing comprehensive care to women during pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. Working in maternity hospitals or clinics in Dubai, the midwife offers support, education, and medical attention to expectant and new mothers. This role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities, including monitoring the health of mothers and babies, assisting with births, and supporting breastfeeding. The midwife is expected to work collaboratively with obstetricians, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure the highest standards of maternal and neonatal care. This position requires both clinical expertise and compassionate communication skills to effectively support families during a critical time in their lives.


Responsibilities

  • Provide prenatal, intrapartum, and postpartum care to mothers and newborns.
  • Perform regular check-ups to monitor the health of pregnant mothers.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of birth plans with expectant mothers.
  • Support and assist mothers during labor and delivery processes.
  • Monitor fetal and maternal health during labor and identify potential complications.
  • Educate mothers and families about childbirth, breastfeeding, and newborn care.
  • Offer emotional support and reassurance to mothers during childbirth and postpartum.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure comprehensive maternity care.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records on patients' health and progress.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.
  • Conduct postnatal visits to assess mother’s recovery and infant’s development.
  • Ensure compliance with DHA regulations and healthcare standards in midwifery practice.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Midwifery or related healthcare field from an accredited institution.
  • Valid DHA professional license or eligibility as a Registered Midwife in Dubai.
  • Minimum of two years of clinical experience in midwifery or obstetric care.
  • Strong knowledge of prenatal, childbirth, and postpartum care practices and techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with patients and healthcare staff.
  • Ability to remain calm and efficient under pressure during emergency situations.
  • Empathy, patience, and the capacity to provide emotional support to parents.
