Job Description

As a Senior Credit Manager, you will play a critical role in overseeing and managing the credit department's operations within our organization. You will be responsible for evaluating the creditworthiness of prospective and current clients, managing risk through strategic credit control measures, and streamlining the credit approval process to maximize profitability and reduce bad debts. The position requires a dynamic individual with excellent analytical skills, experience in financial assessment, and a robust understanding of credit policies and procedures. You will lead a team and work closely with other departments to ensure compliance with company policies while enhancing client relationships. Additionally, you are expected to stay informed about industry trends and legislative changes that may impact the credit landscape.


Responsibilities

  • Oversee the credit department's daily operations ensuring adherence to policy guidelines.
  • Evaluate the creditworthiness of clients using various risk assessment tools and metrics.
  • Develop and implement credit policies to minimize risk and maximize returns.
  • Monitor and manage the collection of outstanding accounts to maintain cash flow.
  • Collaborate with sales and finance teams to resolve client credit issues effectively.
  • Conduct regular assessments of credit limits and manage adjustments as necessary.
  • Prepare detailed credit reports and provide insights for decision-making processes.
  • Lead and mentor a team of credit analysts and specialists to improve department performance.
  • Maintain relationships with clients to negotiate payment terms and settlements.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and regulatory changes affecting credit management.
  • Establish and maintain productive working relationships with relevant stakeholders and partners.
  • Ensure that all credit operations comply with applicable laws and regulations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in credit management or a related field.
  • Excellent analytical and financial assessment skills are vital for success.
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience in team management or supervision.
  • Effective communication skills to liaise with clients and internal teams.
  • Proficiency with credit assessment tools and financial software applications.
  • In-depth knowledge of credit-related laws and compliance requirements.
