Job Description

A Radiology Technician, commonly known as a Radiologic Technologist, is a vital member of the healthcare team responsible for capturing diagnostic images of patients’ bodies. These images primarily support the diagnosis of injuries, diseases, or medical conditions. The Radiology Technician operates a variety of sophisticated imaging equipment such as X-ray machines, CT scanners, and MRI machines. This position requires adherence to strict safety and quality protocols to ensure patient safety and accurate imaging results. Radiology Technicians work closely with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care. This role demands acute attention to detail, strong technical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with patients and healthcare colleagues.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for radiological procedures by explaining the process and positioning them correctly.
  • Operate imaging equipment, such as X-ray, MRI, and CT machines, proficiently and safely.
  • Ensure all radiology equipment is regularly tested and maintained according to safety standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of completed procedures and patient data using electronic health record systems.
  • Collaborate with doctors and radiologists to review imaging results for diagnosis.
  • Practice radiation protection techniques to minimize exposure to patients and staff.
  • Assist in the evaluation and enhancement of radiology department operational procedures.
  • Stay updated with advancements in diagnostic imaging technology and protocols.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality and adhere to legal and ethical guidelines in radiology.
  • Perform quality assurance checks on images to ensure clarity and precision.
  • Offer compassion and support to patients who may be anxious about imaging procedures.
  • Participate in continued professional development and training sessions as required.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program with a valid certification.
  • Obtain and maintain state licensure to practice as a Radiology Technician.
  • Strong understanding of safety practices related to radiologic procedures.
  • Proficiency in using various radiologic and imaging equipment and technology.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients and medical staff.
  • Attention to detail with strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and education in radiology.
