Job Description

A Radiographer, also known as a Radiologic Technologist, plays a critical role in the healthcare setting by using specialized imaging equipment to capture images of the body’s internal structures. These images are crucial for diagnosing, monitoring, and treating various medical conditions. Radiographers work closely with radiologists and other medical professionals to ensure that the imaging performed assists in accurate patient assessments. This position requires a strong understanding of anatomy, technology, and patient care. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, compassionate, and adept at operating sophisticated imaging machinery. Working in hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic centers, Radiographers must maintain safety protocols while providing excellent patient care.


Responsibilities

  • Operate complex imaging equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
  • Ensure the proper positioning of patients to obtain clear, accurate images.
  • Maintain detailed, accurate patient records and imaging logs.
  • Adhere to safety standards and follow radiation protection guidelines diligently.
  • Prepare examination rooms with necessary equipment and supplies for imaging procedures.
  • Assist radiologists in the interpretation of images when necessary and requested.
  • Provide compassionate care and communicate effectively with patients during procedures.
  • Constantly check and calibrate imaging machinery to ensure optimal performance.
  • Stay updated with advancements in radiographic techniques and technologies.
  • Participate in continuing education and training programs to enhance skill sets.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare staff to streamline diagnostic operations.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior radiography staff and trainees.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field is required.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 1 to 2 years of experience in a clinical radiography role.
  • Strong knowledge of radiographic imaging techniques and patient positioning.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary for patient interaction.
  • Ability to handle highly technical equipment and troubleshoot issues effectively.
  • Commitment to following ethical and health safety regulations rigorously.
