Job Description

A Quantity Surveyor specializing in civil projects plays a vital role in the construction industry, ensuring that building projects remain financially viable and cost-effective. The professional oversees all fiscal aspects related to civil engineering projects, from initial estimates and budget management to final costs. Responsibilities

  • Prepare and manage budgets, ensuring that projects remain financially viable.
  • Conduct cost analysis and tendering processes to submit competitive project bids.
  • Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, and construction managers to forecast project costs.
  • Monitor and control project expenditure to ensure alignment with budget.
  • Compile and present detailed progress reports to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and conditions with contractors and subcontractors effectively.
  • Assess project risks related to costs and provide mitigation strategies accordingly.
  • Manage procurement processes, selecting materials and services that fit within budget.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory construction regulations and contractual obligations.
  • Evaluate and control variations in the construction process to prevent cost overruns.
  • Conduct regular site visits to ensure cost control and project efficiency.
  • Develop and maintain an effective and organized documentation system for all costs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field required.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in quantity surveying within civil projects.
  • Proficient in cost management software and tools used in the construction industry.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Knowledge of relevant construction regulations and quality standards is necessary.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and handle multiple priorities.
