Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor with a specialization in civil construction projects. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all costs related to building and civil engineering projects, from the initial calculations to the final figures. They will strive to minimize the costs of a project and enhance value for money while achieving the required standards and quality. This involves ensuring statutory building regulations are met, estimating quantities, costs and time scales for material and labor costs. You’ll be adept at negotiating with contractors and suppliers and monitoring the costs of work as the project progresses, playing a key role in delivering the project on time and within budget.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities.
  • Perform risk, value management, and cost control throughout projects.
  • Advise on a procurement strategy to ensure cost-effective outcomes.
  • Conduct feasibility studies to estimate materials, time, and labor costs.
  • Identify, analyze and develop responses to commercial risks.
  • Manage the forecasting, budgeting, and property taxation aspects of construction projects.
  • Monitor project progress and compare it with baseline plans.
  • Negotiate and communicate effectively with all key stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and legal regulations in all costs.
  • Provide cost analysis and support project documentation management activities.
  • Develop and maintain a network of professional contacts for business growth.
  • Ensure financial targets and other agreed targets are met in all projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in civil construction project quantity surveying.
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction technology, processes, and methods.
  • Proficient in using specialized quantity surveying software and tools.
  • Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills with stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of construction estimating and financial principles.
  • Ability to work independently with strong attention to detail and organization.
