Job Description

The position of Quantity Surveyor is vital in ensuring the cost efficiency and budgetary compliance of construction projects. As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a critical role in managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. This role requires a meticulous individual who can effectively forecast costs and manage budgets whilst maintaining the quality of work. You will collaborate extensively with architects, engineers, and clients to ensure that projects remain within the financial constraints and are completed on time. Your expertise in construction processes and ability to analyze project risks will contribute to the successful management of projects and optimize resource use. This position not only requires technical acumen but also excellent negotiation and communication skills to handle complex financial datasets and influence various stakeholders.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, ensuring accuracy and reliability.
  • Monitor project budgets comprehensively to ensure expenses remain within the allocated limits.
  • Collaborate with construction teams to negotiate and prepare contract documents efficiently.
  • Evaluate and analyze subcontractor and supplier quotes for cost-effectiveness.
  • Conduct regular site visits to ensure work quality aligns with monetary expenditures.
  • Prepare detailed reports on project expenditures and forecast future budgetary needs.
  • Oversee the management of project cash flow, ensuring timely payments to all parties.
  • Advise on potential financial risks and propose mitigation strategies proactively.
  • Coordinate with project managers to adjust budgets in response to scope changes.
  • Maintain accurate financial records and documentation for auditing purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with construction regulations and safety standards relevant to finances.
  • Facilitate meetings with clients to discuss project updates and financial statuses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry is advantageous.
  • Strong proficiency in utilizing quantity surveying software and financial modeling tools.
  • Excellent analytical skills with the capable handling of complex financial data.
  • Solid understanding of construction processes, materials, and regulatory standards.
  • Outstanding communication skills to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Exceptional negotiation skills and the ability to resolve contractual disputes promptly.
  • Detail-oriented with a robust ability to prepare precise and comprehensive reports.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
