Job Description

A Quantity Surveyor is a crucial player in the construction and infrastructure sectors, particularly in relation to project cost management and financial control. The role focuses on ensuring that construction projects are delivered within budget while maintaining the highest possible standards of quality. A Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all aspects of the contractual and financial side of construction projects. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team, contributing their expertise to a variety of projects, from residential to commercial and industrial builds. This role requires excellent numerical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with teams and stakeholders to ensure the successful financial execution of projects.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review project cost estimates and budget plans to align with financial goals.
  • Manage project budgets by monitoring and controlling costs throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Conduct risk, value management, and cost control activities to optimize financial outcomes.
  • Monitor and evaluate the work progress to ensure alignment with budgetary constraints.
  • Prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities for new projects.
  • Participate in procurement processes and negotiate with contractors and suppliers.
  • Provide advice on contracts and negotiate contract terms to ensure favorable outcomes.
  • Conduct site visits and evaluations to ensure project specifications are met effectively.
  • Analyze outcomes and prepare detailed progress reports for stakeholders and management.
  • Assist in the procurement management and supplier selection to achieve cost efficiency.
  • Liaise with project teams and clients to provide detailed cost analysis and recommendations.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices to enhance project financial management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
  • Strong numerical and financial management skills, with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in cost estimating and budget management software and tools.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills for engaging with stakeholders.
  • Ability to interpret complex technical documents and translate them into actionable plans.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes and methodologies.
  • Certified Member of a recognized professional body such as RICS is an advantage.
