Job Description

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in the construction and building sector by ensuring that construction projects remain within budget while meeting the highest quality standards. Your expertise in cost estimation and contract management will be pivotal in coordinating with contractors, clients, and project managers to achieve successful project outcomes. You will be responsible for analyzing existing budgets, predicting future expenses, and ensuring efficient allocation of resources. You will also be expected to maintain thorough records and documentation to support financial accountability. This is a critical role that combines technical skills with financial acumen, suitable for a detail-oriented professional with strong problem-solving abilities.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost estimates and budgets for various construction projects promptly.
  • Conduct site visits to ascertain cost implications and assess project progress.
  • Analyze and evaluate subcontractor quotations and bids for necessary approvals.
  • Maintain and update project financial records, reports, and documentation accurately.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to ensure cost-effective planning.
  • Identify and quantify commercial risks as part of project risk management activities.
  • Provide detailed analysis of project costs to facilitate informed decision-making.
  • Monitor costs and expenditures to ensure projects remain within budget constraints.
  • Negotiate contracts and authorizing any necessary contract amendments with contractors.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, contractors, and stakeholders on financial matters.
  • Advise on procurement strategies and create detailed cost plans and tender pricing.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory standards related to quantity surveying.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in a construction-related environment.
  • Strong knowledge of construction materials, methodologies, and market prices.
  • Proficiency in cost estimation software, such as AutoCAD or CostX, is necessary.
  • Excellent analytical skills and a strong aptitude for financial management.
  • Outstanding communication skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
