Job Description

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a crucial role in the construction industry by managing all costs related to building and civil engineering projects. You will strive to minimize project costs and enhance value for money, while ensuring that the project's legal and quality standards are met. This role demands a detailed understanding of construction processes as well as excellent analytical and negotiation skills. You will work closely with various stakeholders, including clients, architects, and contractors, to prepare and manage project estimates, budgets, bills of quantities, and contracts. With an eye for detail and a commitment to cost efficiency, you will be a vital part of every construction project’s success.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed estimates of construction projects’ costs, covering all phases.
  • Manage and control project budgets to avoid exceeding allocated funds.
  • Collaborate with architects and engineers to finalize project brief and specifications.
  • Produce bills of quantities for competitive tendering process from the project design.
  • Negotiate contracts and sub-contracting agreements ensuring fair and beneficial terms.
  • Monitor and report on project progress, delivering financial updates to stakeholders.
  • Assess and process contractors' payment claims according to contractual obligations.
  • Prepare and analyze costings for tenders and advise clients accordingly.
  • Conduct risk analysis and assist in risk management throughout project phases.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in cost management activities.
  • Work alongside project managers to deliver projects within set timelines and budgets.
  • Keep detailed records of all financial aspects and documentations for audit purposes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in the construction industry.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills for accurate cost analysis and forecasting.
  • Excellent negotiation skills with ability to manage contractual relationships effectively.
  • Proficiency in relevant software such as AutoCAD, MS Excel, and industry-specific tools.
  • Solid understanding of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations.
  • Strong communication skills for interaction with various stakeholders and team members.
