Job Description

As a Quantity Surveyor, you will play a pivotal role in managing and controlling the costs of construction projects. Your expertise will ensure that projects are completed within budget while maintaining the required standards and quality. You will be responsible for conducting feasibility studies, preparing cost estimates, and advising on cost-effective solutions. Your ability to analyze contractual and financial risks, assess project profitability, and manage procurement processes will be crucial. Collaborating with contractors, architects, and clients, you will evaluate project progress and facilitate negotiations. The role demands a keen eye for detail and a comprehensive understanding of construction methods and materials, ensuring that every project is delivered efficiently and effectively.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates to assist in project budget formulation and planning.
  • Conduct feasibility studies to evaluate the financial viability of construction projects.
  • Manage and track construction costs to ensure adherence to set budgets.
  • Collaborate with architects and engineers to confirm project specifications and designs.
  • Lead procurement processes by identifying and selecting quality suppliers and contractors.
  • Assess and manage risks associated with contractual obligations and project financials.
  • Evaluate tender documents and prepare accurate bills of quantities for bidding.
  • Negotiate contract terms with stakeholders to ensure the best financial outcomes.
  • Perform value engineering exercises to optimize resource use and reduce costs.
  • Monitor project progress and advise on necessary adjustments or changes to the budget.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports and forecasts for client and management review.
  • Ensure compliance with construction regulations and health and safety standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or relevant field.
  • Proven experience in quantity surveying, cost management, or related roles.
  • Solid understanding of construction procurement and contract management principles.
  • Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail in cost calculations.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills for dealing with stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to interpret architectural drawings and technical project specifications accurately.
