Job Description

The role of a Quantity Surveyor is integral to the construction and real estate industries, focusing on controlling costs, managing budgets, and ensuring that the financial and material resources of construction projects are utilized effectively. As a Quantity Surveyor 04N25, you will be at the forefront of negotiations, procurement, and project closeouts. You will work alongside architects, contractors, and engineers to provide advice on contractual claims, progress analysis, and cost forecasting. A precise understanding of construction methods and materials will complement your analytical skills in evaluating project requirements and budgets. Your role will significantly influence the financial outcomes of construction projects, ensuring everything aligns with the client's objectives and legal regulations.


Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and valuations for construction projects.
  • Conduct pre-tender evaluations and provide advice on the cost of design proposals.
  • Analyze outcomes and write detailed financial and progress reports.
  • Oversee contractual arrangements and manage agreements with clients and vendors.
  • Negotiate contracts and work schedules with contractors and subcontractors.
  • Evaluate completed work to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Maintain a record of variations in contracts that may impact budgets.
  • Advise on procurement strategy and manage financial risks in projects.
  • Certify project payments based on work completed and approved schedules.
  • Liaise with project stakeholders to resolve invoicing issues and disputes.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards on projects.
  • Develop strong relationships with clients to better understand their requirements and expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Proven experience of at least 3 years in a similar role within the construction industry.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills for client and supplier engagement.
  • Proficient in the use of relevant software including AutoCAD and Excel.
  • Thorough understanding of construction methods, materials, and legal requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting tight deadlines.
