Job Description

The Quantity Estimator 23N25 plays an integral role in construction projects, providing critical insight and precision in calculating material estimates to ensure project feasibility and cost-effectiveness. This specialist focuses on the precise quantification of materials, supplies, and resources required for construction projects. By analyzing project blueprints and specifications, the Quantity Estimator contributes to formulating accurate budget forecasts and minimizing waste. This role involves close collaboration with project managers, engineers, and architects to interpret project plans and ensure resource allocation aligns with project goals. As a key component in the project lifecycle, the Quantity Estimator supports the construction bid process, aids in procurement strategies, and ensures compliance with regulatory standards to help mitigate financial risks and drive project success.


Responsibilities

  • Analyze architectural plans and construction drawings to assess required materials.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for materials, labor, and equipment needed.
  • Collaborate with project managers to align estimates with project budgets.
  • Research and source materials while negotiating with suppliers for best pricing.
  • Track changes in design and construction work, updating budget estimates accordingly.
  • Attend project meetings to discuss estimations and address any concerns or revisions.
  • Create comprehensive reporting and documentation to support financial planning.
  • Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and mitigate financial risks within projects.
  • Evaluate historical data to better predict future project needs and budgets.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, building codes, and regulations.
  • Provide continuous feedback to improve estimating processes and efficiency over time.
  • Liaise with subcontractors, obtaining critical information to accurately predict costs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in quantity estimating within the construction sector.
  • Strong proficiency in estimation and project management software tools.
  • Excellent mathematical skills and keen attention to detail for accuracy.
  • Ability to interpret complex blueprints and technical documents effectively.
  • Proven negotiation skills to engage with suppliers and subcontractors efficiently.
  • Strong communication skills to clearly convey estimation findings and recommendations.
