The QHSE Officer will support the implementation, monitoring, and continual improvement of the company's quality, health, safety, and environmental systems. Working closely with the HSE & FM Manager, HSE and operational teams, the officer will help maintain safe working conditions, regulatory compliance, and the effective implementation and maintenance of the ISO 9001 Quality Management System. The role includes conducting risk assessments, inspections and audits, investigating incidents and nonconformities, and promoting a culture of quality, safety, and environmental responsibility.
Key Responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:
Quality Management:
Assist the HSE & FM Manager in implementing, maintaining, and continually improve the ISO 9001 Quality Management System in coordination with relevant process owners.
Maintain QMS documentation, process maps, objectives, risks and opportunities, records, and performance indicators.
Support the HSE & FM Team in developing, implementing, and enforcing QHSE policies and procedures.
Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits, and inspections.
Identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and ensure compliance with safety protocols.
Provide training and awareness sessions to ensure staff adherence to safety standards.
Manage contractor activities and Permit to Work (PTW) and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) systems to ensure safety compliance.
Incident and Risk Management:
Investigate incidents and near misses, documenting findings and implementing corrective actions.
Support the HSE & FM Manager in improving safety systems based on risk assessments and incident trends.
Emergency Preparedness:
Collaborate on developing and reviewing emergency response plans and procedures.
Conduct emergency drills, ensuring all employees are prepared for potential hazards.
Ensure fire and safety equipment is maintained and fully operational.
Compliance and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of QHSE inspections, incidents, quality nonconformities, audits, and training sessions.
Assist in preparing reports for internal audits, management, and regulatory permits, approvals, or licences.
Support compliance with applicable quality, health, safety, environmental, legal, customer, and ISO requirements.
Collaboration and Support:
Work closely with Operations, Maintenance, and other relevant stakeholders to improve QHSE performance.
Engage with employees at all levels to promote quality, safety, and environmental awareness.
Stay updated on best practices and industry standards to continually improve the QHSE programme.
Qualifications And Skills
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field.
NEBOSH IGC certification in Occupational Health and Safety is mandatory.
ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certification is required.
First Aid and Fire Safety certifications are desirable.
ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification or strong working knowledge is desirable.
Additional certification in quality, health, safety, or environmental management is an advantage.
4–5 years of combined QHSE experience, preferably in a manufacturing, service, laundry, or other process-driven environment.
Proven practical experience implementing and maintaining an ISO 9001 QMS, including controlled documentation, internal audits, nonconformities, corrective actions, management reviews, and certification support.
Experience in hazard identification, risk assessment, HSE inspections, incident investigation, training delivery, rootcause analysis and QHSE report writing.
Skills
Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
Strong communication, analytical, organisational, problem-solving, and follow-up skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
Good to have knowledge of tools such as Notion, Asana, Slack, or similar platforms for collaboration and task management.
Working Conditions
Exposure to various operational environments, including possible exposure to heat, noise, and chemicals.
Occasional travel may be required for site inspections or meetings.
The role may require shift work, including night shifts, to ensure effective QHSE oversight.
