We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Permanent Purchasing Agent to join our team in the Construction industry. This role will be pivotal in managing the procurement of materials, equipment, and services necessary for all our construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in the residential construction and home building sector, demonstrating a deep understanding of the purchasing process, vendor management, and the creation and execution of purchase orders.

Job Details

Responsibilities:

As a Permanent Purchasing Agent, you will be responsible for:

1. Developing and implementing purchasing strategies for materials, services, and equipment.
2. Creating and managing purchase orders, ensuring all details are accurate and up to date.
3. Negotiating and managing contracts with vendors, ensuring the best value for money and timely delivery of materials and services.
4. Identifying and sourcing new vendors and suppliers, while maintaining strong relationships with existing ones.
5. Working closely with project managers and other key stakeholders to determine material requirements and specifications.
6. Monitoring market trends, competitor strategies, and market suppliers.
7. Analyzing and evaluating offers from suppliers, based on price, quality, delivery speed, and service.
8. Ensuring that all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications.
9. Managing the procurement budget and tracking expenditures.
10. Resolving vendor or contractor grievances, and claims against suppliers.

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

1. A minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar role within the residential construction or home building industry.
2. In-depth knowledge of the purchasing process and vendor management.
3. Proven experience with purchase orders and procurement.
4. Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers.
5. Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
6. Proficiency in relevant software, including MS Office and purchasing management systems.
7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
8. A keen eye for detail and a results-driven approach.
9. A degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or a related field would be advantageous.
