JOB DESCRIPTION
The Project Pursuit Manager (Africa & Power) is responsible for driving project pursuit activities for Brownfield and Expansion opportunities across the Africa region and Power industry segment. This role focuses on increasing Flow Control Valves (FCV) participation in project awards by developing strategic relationships with EPCs, OEMs, consultants, and end users while driving specification influence and project conversion activities.
Working closely with regional sales teams, Global Project Pursuit teams, and business unit leadership, the role supports business growth through strategic project identification, early engagement, and pursuit execution across entity and destination opportunities.
In This Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:
Project Pursuit & Business Development
- Drive project pursuit activities for Africa and Power industry opportunities across the MEA region.
- Identify, develop, and influence specification preference for FCV products and solutions with EPCs, OEMs, and end users.
- Engage with customers early in the project cycle to create differentiation and establish product preference.
- Develop strategic relationships with EPCs, FEED contractors, OEMs, consultants, and end users.
- Support achievement of project bookings targets and business growth objectives.
- Drive both entity and destination project opportunities across the assigned territory.
Project Intelligence & Strategy
- Identify major projects and maintain visibility of project opportunities across the region.
- Gather market intelligence, project information, and customer insights to support growth strategies.
- Prepare project forecasts and support monthly project gate review processes.
- Develop specifications for major projects from early project stages.
- Influence project specifications to include Emerson Flow Control products and solutions.
- Establish short and long-term project sales and market development strategies.
Customer Engagement & Relationship Management
- Conduct technical presentations and customer engagement activities with EPCs, OEMs, consultants, and end users.
- Build strong customer relationships and understand customer business needs and project requirements.
- Act as a trusted advisor by developing value-added solutions that support customer objectives.
- Provide strategic support to sales channels, customers, and project stakeholders.
Proposal & Opportunity Management
- Support development of competitive and technically sound project proposals.
- Provide technical, commercial, and competitive input for opportunities and bids.
- Drive Minimum Initial Bid (MIB) strategies where applicable.
- Lead proposal Delegation of Authority (DOA) processes and internal approval activities.
- Support project execution teams to ensure pursuit strategies are effectively implemented.
- Drive cost optimization initiatives for targeted opportunities.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with regional and global project pursuit teams to identify priority opportunities.
- Collaborate with Sales, Application Engineering, Project Management, Manufacturing, and Global Project Pursuit teams.
- Support multi-divisional and MAC pursuit opportunities across Emerson business units.
- Coordinate with other world areas on destination project opportunities and pursuit strategies.
Installed Base & Lifecycle Growth
- Develop programs that leverage the installed base following successful project awards.
- Drive spare parts and lifecycle services opportunities associated with project pursuits.
- Support long-term growth through aftermarket and installed-base development initiatives.
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure compliance with Emerson Ethics, Trade Compliance, Safety, and Quality requirements.
- Maintain accurate project reporting, forecasting, and business reviews.
- Support business planning and strategic reporting processes.

For This Role, You Will Need
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of industry experience within Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, Power, or related process industries.
- Strong knowledge of project sales, project pursuit processes, and control valve applications.
- Experience working with EPCs, OEMs, FEED contractors, consultants, and end users.
- Strong customer relationship management and business development skills.
- Excellent presentation, communication, and influencing abilities.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving capabilities.
- Ability to travel extensively across Africa and internationally as required.
Preferred Qualifications That Set You Apart
- Experience leading project pursuit activities within the Africa region.
- Strong understanding of Power industry projects and applications.
- French language skills.
- Experience with Brownfield and Expansion projects.
- Knowledge of Flow Control Valve technologies and severe service applications.
- Experience working within global matrix organizations and multinational project environments.
