Job Summary


The Procurement Engineer is responsible for managing procurement activities for construction projects, ensuring timely sourcing of materials, services, and subcontract packages in line with project requirements, budgets, and schedules. This role supports effective vendor management, cost control, and compliance with company policies while coordinating closely with project teams and suppliers to ensure uninterrupted project execution.


Key Responsibilities


Procurement Process Management



  • Verify material quantities and approval status in coordination with Project Managers and Engineering teams.

  • Manage site material requisitions and ensure all required approvals are obtained prior to processing.

  • Prepare and issue inquiries (RFQs/RFIs) and obtain a minimum of three quotations for technical and commercial comparison.

  • Perform price analysis and cost evaluations to support procurement recommendations.

  • Ensure procurement activities are aligned with project schedules and update procurement logs and trackers on a bi-weekly basis.

  • Issue Local Purchase Orders (LPOs) in accordance with approved procurement procedures and authorization limits.

  • Prepare summary reports for completed procurement packages and closed invoices.


Supplier & Material Sourcing



  • Research, identify, and prequalify suitable suppliers and subcontractors for construction materials and services.

  • Coordinate with suppliers and project teams to ensure timely delivery of materials in line with project requirements.

  • Lead commercial negotiations with suppliers to secure competitive pricing, favorable terms, and reliable delivery commitments.

  • Maintain strong working relationships with vendors to support long-term procurement efficiency.


Data Management & Reporting



  • Develop, maintain, and update structured databases for materials, suppliers, subcontractors, and procurement records.

  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of procurement documentation and system records within ERP platforms.

  • Generate procurement status reports, cost summaries, and management updates as required.


Coordination & Team Support



  • Coordinate closely with Engineering, Projects, Planning, Finance, and Stores teams to support smooth procurement execution.

  • Support the Senior Procurement Engineer with delegated procurement tasks, follow-ups, and operational activities.

  • Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies, ethical standards, and contractual requirements.


Required Qualifications & Competencies



  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in procurement roles within the construction industry

  • Strong communication, coordination, and negotiation skills

  • Fluency in spoken and written English

  • Proficiency in SAP ERP or similar procurement/ERP systems

  • Strong knowledge of vendor management, material sourcing, and contract negotiation

  • Experience in procurement of construction materials, subcontracting, and cost control

  • Familiarity with local construction markets, supplier networks, and authority requirements

  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines

  • High standards of professionalism, integrity, and accountability
