Job Description

A Procurement Engineer plays a critical role in the acquisition of resources and materials necessary for engineering projects. This position demands a meticulous professional who ensures the quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery of goods and services. The Procurement Engineer collaborates closely with engineering teams to comprehend project requirements and with suppliers to negotiate and manage contracts. This role is integral to maintaining the smooth operation of the supply chain through strategic sourcing, supplier evaluation, and cost analysis. The ideal candidate is highly analytical, possesses strong negotiation skills, and demonstrates a solid understanding of both engineering principles and procurement strategies.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with project goals and objectives.
  • Identify and qualify new suppliers to ensure coverage of procurement needs.
  • Negotiate terms, contracts, and pricing with vendors to optimize costs.
  • Monitor and assess the performance of suppliers against agreed-upon criteria.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Analyze market trends to forecast and anticipate shifts in material prices.
  • Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and contract agreements.
  • Collaborate with quality assurance to ensure material compliance with standards.
  • Manage inventory levels and plan future procurement activities efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements during procurement processes.
  • Resolve supply chain issues promptly to minimize disruptions to project timelines.
  • Compile reports on procurement and supplier performance for management review.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement engineering or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of supply chain management and procurement processes.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills for supplier engagement.
  • Proficient in using procurement software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations concerning procurement and contracts.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
