The role of a Procurement Engineer is pivotal in the successful acquisition of materials and equipment necessary for project execution. The Procurement Engineer serves as a liaison between suppliers and the organization and is responsible for researching, evaluating, and purchasing products to meet the operational needs of the organization. Their expertise ensures that the procurement process is efficient and cost-effective without compromising on quality. The ideal candidate should possess strong negotiation skills, an eye for detail, and a solid understanding of industry standards and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective procurement strategies in alignment with company objectives.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends and obtain competitive pricing and products.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure advantageous terms and conditions.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to determine procurement needs, quality standards, and budget constraints.
  • Collaborate closely with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality goods and services.
  • Maintain and update supplier database, ensuring accurate records of purchase agreements.
  • Analyze procurement data to forecast supply trends and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and legal requirements.
  • Resolve any supplier discrepancies or issues efficiently to minimize effect on production timelines.
  • Develop and maintain robust relationships with vendors, suppliers, and other key stakeholders.
  • Prepare reports and presentations on procurement activities, expenditures, and recommendations.
  • Oversee tendering processes and manage contract lifecycle from negotiation to renewal.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, supply chain management, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in procurement engineering or similar role in a relevant industry.
  • Exceptional negotiation and networking skills with an ability to build lasting relationships.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency in analyzing procurement and financial data.
  • Comprehensive understanding of market dynamics, demand-supply trends, and pricing strategies.
  • Familiarity with procurement tools and software, such as SAP or Oracle, is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects with varying priorities and timelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver cost savings while maintaining quality standards.
  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or similar certification is beneficial.
