Job Overview:

The Principal HSES Specialist is tasked with solving complex HSES-related problems and will work independently with minimal guidance. They may be responsible for leading functional teams or projects and are regarded as a specialist in the field of HSES. As such, they must have in-depth expertise in HSES and broad knowledge of the HSES discipline within the Health Safety Environment Security function.

Responsibilities

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Incident Management
    • Review and vet incident notifications and reports prior to distribution via Intelex
    • Support and participate in investigations as HSES SME
    • Track and facilitate closure of incident actions within agreed timeframes
  • HSES-MS Implementation
    • Monitor Unifi document updates and communicate with sites HSES Leads
    • Develop and distribute STRIVE material, TBT, posters/banners for vessels.
    • Coordination with Procurement and Vendors on required stationary for sites, e.g. HIT/BBS/PTW.
    • Support Marine QHSES Committee meeting presentation and facilitate where required
    • Plan, provide and track HSES recognition material on all core vessels.
    • Communication Card reviewer for core vessels
    • Verifying the risk management processes are implemented across all vessel and conducting assurance checks to verify effectiveness
    • Ensure site Activity Planners are being conducted as per the schedule (incl, inspection, drills, etc)
  • Assurance
    • Conduct 3rd party vessel assurance and surveillance inspections with report
    • Regular site visits for HSES-MS assurance activities
    • Maintain internal audit plans and perform as per schedule
    • Conduct supplier/subcontractor prequalification and audits
    • Regular review of site Intelex dashboard leading and lagging indicators and providing feedback and working solutions where required
  • Resourcing
    • Coordinate and monitor mobilization and demobilization of HSE personnel on core vessels.
    • Chair marine staffing meetings and maintain marine core HSES team onboard core assets and support project requests
    • Review CV and interview new recruits and manage their recruitment process with HR.
  • Security
    • Fulfill Deputy CSO duties and coordination with CSO and SSO onboard core vessels
Qualifications

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • Degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in HSES related field
  • 7-8 years of HSE Experience within the Energy Industry
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
  • Familiarity with company, facility, and project-specific HSES terms, requirements, and deliverables
  • Maintain key competencies associated with the HSES function
  • Trained and experienced ISO standards lead auditor (9001, 14001, or 45001)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word, Sharepoint) and other relevant online applications
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal
