Principal Auditor - Operations

Job Purpose

• Lead Audits in Production, Reservoir Management, Drilling Operations, Maintenance, Health & Safety and Logistics.
• Ensure efficiency & compliance, collaborating with other Departments to enhance methodologies.

• Recommend corrective actions, where possible, to improve operational efficiencies and effectiveness in meeting business and organizational objectives.
• Overseeing the day-to-day activities of the Operations Team, to achieve objectives consistent with the company’s corporate strategy and business goals.
• Conduct ad-hoc assignments and investigations as requested by the Senior Management or/and Line Manager.
  
  
  

Job Responsibilities

• Lead and execute operational audits across core functions—ensuring compliance, efficiency, and alignment with organizational objectives.
• Conduct in-depth audits spanning Production, Reservoir Management, Drilling, Maintenance, HSE, and Logistics to identify risks and improvement areas.
• Drive process enhancements by recommending actionable solutions and developing frameworks for continuous control monitoring and audit automation.
• Engage with senior leadership and department heads to align audit outcomes with strategic priorities and foster cross-functional collaboration.
• Deliver comprehensive audit reporting, including risk-based annual plans, internal audit charters, and independent assurance on governance and controls.
• Mentor audit teams and lead ad-hoc investigations, reinforcing a culture of accountability, transparency, and operational excellence.
• Develop and implement audit programs, managing full-cycle engagements and delivering reports with clear, actionable recommendations.
• Engage with management to formalize remediation plans, monitor resolution of audit issues, and drive timely execution.
• Provide objective assurance to Senior Management and the Board on the robustness of risk management, governance, and internal controls.
  
  
  

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering. Petroleum Engineering Preferred.
• Minimum 15 years of Operational Audit experience including 5 years in a Leadership role with 6 – 8 years’ experience with one of the Big Four Audit Firms.
• Proven industry specific audit experience (Oil & Gas Exploration); focused on efficiency & compliance.
