The Primary Teacher is responsible for creating an engaging, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment that enables all pupils to achieve their full potential academically, socially, emotionally, and personally.
Teaching and Learning
Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons in line with the National Curriculum for England and the school's curriculum framework.
Ensure learning objectives are clear, challenging, and appropriate to pupils' needs and abilities.
Differentiate instruction to support pupils of varying abilities, including those with English as an Additional Language (EAL), Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and gifted and talented learners.
Foster a positive learning environment that promotes curiosity, independence, resilience, and a love of learning.
Use a range of effective teaching strategies and educational technologies to enhance learning outcomes.
Promote high standards of literacy, numeracy, and communication across the curriculum.
Assessment, Recording, and Reporting
Assess pupils' attainment and progress using formative and summative assessment strategies.
Maintain accurate records of pupil achievement, progress, and attendance.
Analyse assessment data to inform planning, identify learning gaps, and implement appropriate interventions.
Provide timely and constructive feedback to pupils to support their development.
Prepare written reports and communicate pupil progress effectively to parents and guardians.
Classroom and Behaviour Management
Establish and maintain a safe, inclusive, and well-organised classroom environment.
Implement the school's behaviour policy consistently and fairly.
Encourage positive behaviour, mutual respect, and personal responsibility.
Promote pupil well-being and support their social and emotional development.
Curriculum and Professional Collaboration
Contribute to curriculum planning, development, and review within the year group and across the Primary phase.
Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practices and improve teaching and learning.
Participate in moderation activities to ensure consistency in assessment and standards.
Support cross-curricular learning opportunities and enrichment activities.
Communication and Partnerships
Develop positive and professional relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
Attend parent-teacher consultations, curriculum evenings, and school events.
Maintain regular communication with parents regarding pupil progress, achievements, and welfare.
Work effectively with support staff, specialist teachers, and external agencies where appropriate.
Safeguarding and Student Welfare
Promote and safeguard the welfare of all children in accordance with statutory safeguarding requirements and school policies.
Maintain awareness of safeguarding procedures and report concerns promptly.
Foster a culture of respect, inclusion, and child protection throughout the school community.
Professional Development
Engage in continuous professional learning and reflective practice.
Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, performance management processes, and professional development programmes.
Remain informed about developments in education, curriculum changes, and best practice within British education.
Wider School Contribution
Contribute to the wider life of the school through extracurricular activities, educational visits, assemblies, and special events.
Support the school's vision, mission, values, and strategic objectives.
Act as a positive ambassador for the school within the wider community.
