Position Overview

We are seeking an outstanding Primary ELL / Inclusion Teacher to join our school for an immediate start, or January 2027 at the latest.

This is a specialist role supporting Primary students who require additional support with English language acquisition and/or additional learning needs.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with Primary classroom teachers, Inclusion and ELL colleagues to identify barriers to learning and provide targeted, personalised support that enables students to access the curriculum, develop confidence and make strong progress.

We are looking for an adaptable and nurturing practitioner with a strong understanding of language development, inclusive education and the needs of young learners within a diverse international school environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support Primary students with English language acquisition and additional learning needs.
  • Plan and deliver targeted individual, small-group and in-class interventions.
  • Assess students' language and learning needs and use this information to plan appropriate support.
  • Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to differentiate learning and ensure students can access the curriculum.
  • Develop and implement personalised learning strategies and student support plans.
  • Monitor student progress and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Support the development of students' speaking, listening, reading and writing skills across the curriculum.
  • Provide teachers with strategies to support multilingual learners and students with additional learning needs within the classroom.
  • Build positive relationships with students, helping them develop confidence, independence and a sense of belonging.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and support.
  • Collaborate closely with Inclusion, ELL, pastoral and Primary teaching teams.
  • Contribute to a whole-school culture that celebrates linguistic and learning diversity.

Skills Description

Successful Candidate

The successful candidate will have:

  • A recognised Primary teaching qualification such as a B.Ed, PGCE, State Teaching Licence or equivalent.
  • A relevant bachelor’s degree meeting UAE teacher approval requirements.
  • Successful experience teaching or supporting students within a Primary/Elementary setting.
  • Experience supporting English Language Learners (ELL/EAL) and/or students with additional learning needs.
  • A qualification or professional development in ELL/EAL, SEND, Inclusion or Special Education would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of language acquisition and inclusive classroom practice.
  • Experience planning and delivering targeted interventions.
  • A strong understanding of differentiation and personalised learning.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • A nurturing, patient and flexible approach to supporting young learners.
  • Experience working within a diverse, multilingual international school community would be advantageous.
  • Experience within an international school or the UAE would be advantageous but is not essential.
