Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced PMC Safety Officer (Road Safety) for ADNOC Onshore in Abu Dhabi. Due to the nature of the projects and client expectation, the position will be based full time at Site.

Job Purpose

Responsible for monitoring, implementing, and promoting road and traffic safety requirements across the ADNOC Onshore project site. The role ensures that all project personnel, contractors, vehicles, and mobile equipment comply with ADNOC, project, and applicable UAE road safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and enforce road safety and traffic management requirements across the project site.
  • Conduct regular inspections of site roads, access routes, traffic diversions, intersections, parking areas, and pedestrian walkways.
  • Ensure compliance with ADNOC road safety standards, project HSE requirements, and approved Traffic Management Plans.
  • Monitor contractor compliance with site speed limits, vehicle movement controls, seat belt requirements, reversing procedures, and safe driving practices.
  • Conduct daily site observations and identify road safety hazards, unsafe driving practices, and potential traffic conflicts.
  • Coordinate with contractors and construction teams to implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Review and monitor Traffic Management Plans, road safety arrangements, signage, barricades, lighting, and traffic control measures.
  • Verify that heavy vehicles, buses, light vehicles, mobile equipment, and drivers comply with project requirements and applicable certifications.
  • Participate in road safety audits, inspections, campaigns, and awareness initiatives.
  • Investigate road traffic incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions and provide recommendations to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain records of inspections, observations, incidents, corrective actions, and road safety statistics.
  • Coordinate with the PMC HSE team, ADNOC representatives, contractors, security, and site operations regarding traffic and road safety matters.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to project personnel and contractors on safe driving and road safety practices.
  • Stop or escalate unsafe vehicle movements or activities where an immediate risk to personnel or assets is identified.
  • Participate in toolbox talks, HSE meetings, safety campaigns, and site inductions related to road and traffic safety.
  • Support emergency response arrangements involving vehicle and road traffic incidents.
  • Ensure road safety issues are properly tracked and closed out within the required timeframe.

Expected

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in HSE, Engineering, Transportation, Road Safety, or a related discipline .
  • Minimum 8–10 years of relevant experience in road/traffic safety, preferably within oil & gas, EPC/EPCM, or major infrastructure projects.
  • Previous experience working on ADNOC Onshore projects is highly preferred.
  • PMC experience is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of road safety, traffic management, vehicle safety, and construction site traffic control .
  • Experience in monitoring contractors and implementing Traffic Management Plans.
  • NEBOSH/IOSH or equivalent HSE certification would be an advantage.
  • Valid UAE driving licence is preferred.
  • Good communication, coordination, reporting, and site inspection skills.
  • Experience working in a large-scale oil & gas operational/onshore environment .
  • Familiarity with ADNOC HSE standards and requirements .
  • Strong knowledge of site traffic management involving heavy vehicles, buses, cranes, mobile equipment, and light vehicles.
  • Able to work independently at site and effectively coordinate with multiple contractors and project stakeholders.
  • Willing to work in an onshore site-based PMC environment .
