Job Description

The Planning Manager for Pre-Construction plays a pivotal role in overseeing and directing the preliminary planning stages of construction projects. This position demands a professional who can efficiently strategize, schedule, and coordinate pre-construction activities to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and possesses strong leadership and communication skills to manage teams, liaise with stakeholders, and facilitate seamless project transitions into the construction phase. With an in-depth understanding of construction processes, the Planning Manager is expected to predict potential issues, propose solutions, and provide guidance to optimize project effectiveness and efficiency. This role is critical in translating client requirements and architectural plans into practical blueprints for successful project commencement and execution.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage comprehensive pre-construction schedules and timelines for projects.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and contractors to gather project requirements and specifications.
  • Oversee the preparation of detailed project plans, budgets, and cost estimates.
  • Ensure compliance with building codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize project disruptions.
  • Facilitate clear communication among all project stakeholders to ensure alignment and understanding.
  • Lead and mentor a team of planners, providing guidance and support as needed.
  • Analyze project data to forecast potential delays and make adjustments to schedules accordingly.
  • Prepare and present progress reports and updates to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Negotiate with vendors and subcontractors to secure beneficial project terms and pricing.
  • Utilize planning software and tools to enhance project planning efficiency and accuracy.
  • Monitor and review project progress to ensure adherence to timelines and budget constraints.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in project planning or management within the construction industry.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, pre-construction planning, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in planning software such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or similar tools.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills with a strategic mindset.
  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills with an ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
